Those are the words from my four and five year old nephews. Every year I have Christmas Eve at my house. My sister’s and the kids come up, we have dinner, the kids play and then we open up the presents.
It was great seeing Buggy with her cousins. We only live about an hour away from them and it’s sad that they never come up here – story for another post. It was so much fun seeing her interact with the boys. It’s like she sees them all the time.
The kids loved everything they got for Christmas. The boys kept saying over and over again how this was the best Christmas ever and they still had more presents to open on Christmas Day from Santa.
Watching the kids playing and hearing so many belly laughs and decorating cookies – yes, it certainly was “the best Christmas ever!”

It’s hard to believe the time has arrived – sweater season. Fall is my favorite season of all. I love the smell of the wood burning stove as I walk through the neighborhood, the smell of pumpkin and other fall scented candles burning in my house, I love the fall foliage – some of the colors on the trees are just amazing, they just seem to create a rainbow of their own. I think Fall just creates beauty at least for a short period of time.
And then you see it – the ugly sweaters people start to wear and beauty comes to a screeching halt. I was at Petco last week getting more dog food and as I turned the corner – bang! there she was – some older lady sporting her ugly Halloween sweater. Really lady? It was only the middle of September. Was she trying to be the first one from her Ugly Sweater Club like she’s gonna win a prize or something? When you see something nice on someone you always want to pay them a compliment but when you see ugly you just think to yourself – dang that is some ugly shit. You can’t help but stare because you can’t believe that someone is actually wearing something like that. Just like when we were at the zoo last weekend and the llamas were having sex. You know its just wrong to stare but you just can’t help yourself.
I know we’ve all got one of those sweaters in our closets – well I used to when I was part of the club but my membership has since expired and I haven’t renewed. But I guess wearing an ugly sweater is in because there are Ugly Sweater Parties all over the place now. Jeepers, where were these parties when I was sporting my awesome sweaters. Hmmm, maybe it is time to renew that membership and buy myself an ugly sweater and check out some of these parties. After all, I just may be missing out.
