When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but do not quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit.

I found this quote today and love it. Life is an uphill battle sometimes but if you can remember these words you come out a winner.

This has been on my mid for the last week and I can’t stop thinking about it. As I was leaving the supermarket last week I see a young girl, I’d say maybe in her 20’s with some guy at the stop light waiting to cross.
She was pregnant and smoking. I didn’t see the cig at first and as I kept looking at them there it was in her right hand. I had to do a double take because at first I thought ok maybe she’s just fat and that is why she is smoking but it wasn’t the case. I purposely drove even slower to get a better look at this ghetto white trash bitch soon to be mother to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. And no I’m not calling her that because she was smoking, she really was all that.
As someone who has struggled to conceive and would need to go through IVF again to have another child, well this just pisses me off. This poor baby is already suffering and he/she isn’t even born yet. We know the damage that second hand smoke has on us, never mind what it is doing do an unborn child. According to the CDC, smoking while pregnant causes health problems to mother and child – ok, really – no sh*t, like they really need to do research to tell us that. I guess for some women out there like our GWT chickie is okay with doing the following to her child:
You can probably bet that GWT chickie had no intention of getting knocked up and therefore doesn’t really give a crap about what she is doing to her unborn child which pisses me off even more. My heart breaks for all babies in this situation. Maybe I’ll stalk her, shank her ass wait for the baby to be born and save it from its chimney smoking mama. Of course I have no idea who GWT chickie is.
I have never been a smoker. Yea sure I’ve tried it here and there in high school when we were out drinking but it wasn’t for me. For one thing, it was like dumping an ashtray in your mouth- It tasted like ass. Umm, for the record, I’ve never actually tasted ass but you get the point.
I would hope that if you are a smoker and find yourself with child, that you will quit for the sake of your baby’s health. I understand that many women do that and then start smoking again and if that is the case I hope they are not smoking in front of the baby. My daughter turned 2 back in December and when she was a baby I would not let anyone who was a smoker touch her. If for some reason someone had just had a cig and they were holding her and I would see it I would make a bee line for her and rip her out of that person’s arms. My husband is a lot nicer than I am and wouldn’t say anything to them but I don’t give a shit crap, she’s my child and I’m her mother. He used to be a smoker so he can’t smell sh*t these days – literally, Buggy will be right in front of him with the smelliest poo in her diaper and he usually doesn’t smell it. Even now, I will do my best to avoid walking by a smoker if I’m with her. I hate it myself and the smoke triggers my allergies anyway but I just can’t stand the smell of it.
When I was pregnant the smell of coffee made me sick and I couldn’t even go into Dunkin Donuts – not even the drive thru because to me it smelled like cigarettes. I don’t even like walking through the casino’s in Vegas cuz I’ll end up reeking of cig smoke – up I’m a total anal bi-atch like that.
So tell me, did any of you smoke while pregnant? You can be honest – I won’t judge you.

Our canine kids need and love play dates just as much as our human kids. Play dates for our furry friends are a must to curb those unwanted behaviors. My boxer Chantal will be 10 this year. She is a rescue so I’m not sure exactly when her birthday is but we celebrate it in November when I started fostering her. Yes, I am a repeat foster flunkie. Out of the four dogs that we had- now down to two
, Chantal is our high maintenance child. When she came into our home at the age of 3 (we think), there was no fence tall enough to keep her in the yard. We have a 6ft stockade fence and she had no problem jumping that. We have conservation on the other side and she learned to cut through that and the muck and escape. Two to three walks during the day was not enough for her and I am not one to keep dogs outside unsupervised so she was inside a lot. We tried a runner and she ripped that out, we put a make shift fence near the conservation area and she figured out a way to get out. This little fur baby was determined.
I had no intention of keeping this dog but it had turned out that she was leash aggressive. When she saw other dogs she wanted to go after them but I later found out that it was to play and not hurt them but she didn’t know how to do that. I couldn’t take the chance of a kid walking her and if there was a dog around I think Chantal would have been put down. If she couldn’t get the other dog she would turn on me or my other dogs since I walked all four, but not to bite – just out of frustration. Boy did I need Cesar the Dog Whisperer. Little did I know that he was right in my house – my husband. When hubby came on our walks he could walk by another dog and little miss sassafras behaved like the perfect dog-hmmm, must be just me. She had never learned manners. Chantal came from Puerto Rico where most dogs are kept outside and run the streets whenever they want. Although she did have a family I don’t think it made a difference. The kids loved her and she is fantastic with them but when her young male owner died the family had a tough time handling her. I was working with a great rescue group in Puerto Rico called All Sato Rescue and we brought her in to my local rescue. We nicknamed her Dora because she just kept escaping to seek out new adventures in our neighborhood. Off leash she is great and we realized she just had so much energy to burn. We eventually took her to daycare but that didn’t last long because her first day she learned to climb the chain link fence. Hubby and I were like parents waiting for the daycare to call saying come get your kid. After a few weeks she officially got kicked out of daycare for jumping the fence. Even with other dogs there for her to play with it just wasn’t enough – OY!
So eventually I started having play dates at the house. I would invite anyone who had a friendly dog to come over and play. I even posted ads on craigslist! This was perfect and she got to meet new friends and play and “Dora” didn’t have to escape anymore. I still take her on a few walks a day with my daughter and she still goes nuts when we see other dogs but she is better. When I was pregnant she behaved so well and as crazy as she can be she was the one that laid her head on my belly every single night and has an amazing bond with my daughter. They are the best of friends and Buggy can do anything to her and Chantal lets her. I post a lot of Wordless Wednesday pics of the two of them.
My neighbor has a 6 month old labra doodle puppy that Chantal plays with now. She doesn’t realize that she is not as young as she used to be and after a few hours of playing she just crashes on the couch and daddy has to carry her up the stairs to bed sometimes! She really is a great dog and the biggest love bug. Here are some pictures I took of our play date and one of her crashing on the couch afterwards. She’s one tired fur baby. I love to see my babies – human and fur – happy!
Do you have play dates for your fur babies?

This winter has been quit the unusual winter. We have had two snow storms all winter – Halloween and Leap Year. So totally weird and the temperatures have been like you have been riding a roller coaster with one week being wicked cold and the next quite mild. You just don’t know how to dress and iot feels like you are always getting a cold. This week we are experiencing mild weather again and it feels like Spring especially after the weekend’s very cold weather. Today was 68 degrees. It feels awesome to finally open windows and get some fresh air into the house.
I thought I would take Buggy to the park and unfortunately I got there when it was infested with little rodents – meaning as soon as the kids came out of school they headed right to the park. Buggy loves the park but when the older kids are there it is difficult because they have no regards for the younger kids so we didn’t stay there too long.
Here are some of the pictures I took today. Buggy is into rock climbing and the Little Miss doesn’t want you helping her at all. She is completely fearless. I love the picture of her on the swing.
I love this picture! I took this picture back in 2009 when I was pregnant and had emailed it to a few people in my office and one of the girls added the caption. I’m sure this was exactly what they were thinking! The Westie in the walker is my Tasha who passed this past October.
