Celebrity Perks–I want some too

It never amazes me the free stuff that celebrities receive just because they are famous.  Today as I was going through my Twitter feed I saw a post from Alyssa Milano thanking about 100 companies who were supportive during her pregnancy.  Umm, translation, I think that means thanks guys for all the free stuff you sent me.  I’m not bashing Alyssa at all – I totally love her and she certainly doesn’t seem the type to be asking for handouts. In fact, she wanted the gifts from her fans to go to her charities – again, totally love her!

I’m sure it is totally amazing to be part of the A-list and I know that many of these celebrities donate a lot of these gifted items to charity which again is absolutely amazing – like when the fabulous Victoria Beckham donated baby Harper’s gifts - but what about moms like you and me?

Preparing for baby and getting your nursery ready can be quite costly. I would love it if Pottery Barn Kids or UPPAbaby had sent me a special gift basket.  Just last month Petit Tresor whom I absolutely love, tweeted about sending Denise Richards a gift basket for baby Eloise – isn’t she just a gorgeous baby! Of course these companies want all these wonderful celebrities to shop at their store and for them to tell their friends, and have them tell their friends but don’t you think that WE would be just as happy to spread the word and blog about how supportive these companies are to our pregnancy and the absolutely to die for gift baskets we received. I know I would be telling everyone. I love free stuff too.

It seems like these A-listers get pretty much anything in return for a mention or a picture of these wonderful products.  It’s proof that a celebrity’s tweet, picture or any type of mention carries more weight than the common person. I do understand why companies do it – to sell their product. But they can certainly afford to by it themselves.  I hope the next time I’m pregnant my doorbell doesn’t stop ringing from all the amazing companies who are just dying to support my pregnancy.

  2. It's ironic that people who need it the least get the most stuff. I'd love to have more money, but I don't think I'd like being really famous. I had 15 minutes of small-time fame years ago and didn't like it.
